Our Story

The Barossa Valley Wine Company has one singular focus. To hand craft the very best expressions of the region. From our spiritual home – the gnarled old Farms vineyard in the renowned the Barossa Valley – we are committed to continuing to build on the Barossa’s rich history and heritage.

Our vision is to create a unique portfolio of wines that leverages the strength and authority of the Barossa region.

We’re achieving this by combining three core elements – our deep geological connection with the Barossa, our unique piece of land, and the generational legacy of our talented winemakers.

These elements not only provide us with a great story, they give us the authority to put a unique twist on the world famous Barossa.

Our Wines

The Barossa Valley Wine Company seeks to showcase the best modern varieties that have been instrumental in building and maintaining the Barossa’s reputation. Our wines exude exceptional Barossa quality. BVWC craft wines of sophistication; the perfect balance of elegance, power and grace.

Farms is iconic Barossa at its best, a mark if respect to those that have carved out our regions reputation, and a nod to those yet to come.

An intense nose of blackberry, black olive, liquorice and cigar box characters leads to a powerful palate of rich blackberry, olive tapenade and vanillin spice with dense, powerful and grippy tannins. Fermented for 7 – 10 days in traditional open top fermenters the wine undergoes malo-lactic fermentation in French and American hogsheads followed by twenty months oak maturation.  Enjoy now or will reward careful cellaring for 10+ years.

Stockyard takes its name from the 100+ year old stone ruin on our Farms vineyard. Originally a slaughterhouse, today it occupies a much more serene position overlooking rows of low-yielding Shiraz vines.

Seductive aromas of blackberry, plum and liquorice with savoury white spice on the nose, the palate is rich and concentrated with dark fruit flavours. The spice carries through to the palate, backed by intensely powerful tannins and integrated oak characters from eighteen months maturation in new and one-year old French and American hogsheads.

Gravel Track pays tribute to the long gravel and limestone track that winds its way through our historic 60-year-old Farms vineyard.

Vibrant plum and blackberry characters on the nose with hints of chocolate and earthiness flow through to a rich, bold palate packed with dark fruit flavours. Juicy and fruit driven, powerful yet elegant and with hints of black pepper spice, the wine is matured in a combination of French and American oak for twelve months.

Match this wine with a hearty roast or slow braised red meat.

Lifted aromas of red cherry and raspberry complemented by clove and lavender on the nose, with a rich, earthy and vibrant palate. Soft velvety tannins provide a silky yet persistent finish, punctuated with bright redcurrant and blueberry characters and a subtle background of spice from twelve months French oak maturation. Pairs well with glazed pork or duck with roast vegetables.

Brimming with blackcurrant and black cherry nuances and with layers of spice and tobacco on the nose, this is a powerful expression of the variety. Lashings of blackcurrant on the palate are complemented by lengthy, fine grained tannins and hints of cedar oak from twelve months ageing in French oak.

This wine is the perfect accompaniment to braised beef or lamb chops with roast vegetables.
